Carepatron, a leading New Zealand SaaS company providing an all-in-one workspace for healthcare workers globally, had hit a critical infrastructure limit. As their business grew rapidly, expanding to serve hundreds of thousands of users across 24 languages worldwide, their website infrastructure was struggling to keep pace with their success.

The Growing Pains of Success

Since August 2022, What IF Web had been Carepatron's trusted website partner, initially taking over their existing Webflow site and gradually expanding its capabilities. Over 2.5 years, we helped build an extensive content management ecosystem that grew to accommodate:

This growth, while representing incredible business success, created significant technical and financial challenges within Webflow's infrastructure.

The Webflow Limitations

As Carepatron's traffic approached half a million monthly visitors, they hit Webflow's bandwidth limitations hard. The immediate solution was to upgrade to Webflow Enterprise Lite at $17,000 USD annually, which provided temporary relief but introduced new problems:

Cost vs. Functionality Mismatch

The Enterprise Lite plan's hefty price tag didn't deliver proportional value in features or flexibility for Carepatron's specific needs.

Limited Server Control

As a healthcare technology company, Carepatron needed greater control over their hosting environment, server configurations, and performance optimisations. Control that Webflow's managed hosting couldn't provide.

CMS Scalability Concerns

Managing 8,000+ items across 22 collections in 24 languages was pushing Webflow's CMS to its limits, creating content management inefficiencies for their growing team. With Webflow's maximum capacity of approximately 20,000 CMS items and Carepatron's ambitious content expansion plans, hitting this hard limit was inevitable, threatening to stall their website growth entirely.

Carepatron's team can add or remove entire sections on pages, edit global components such as navigation and footer, and construct complex pages without any technical knowledge, dramatically reducing their dependence on developer resources whilst maintaining design consistency across thousands of pages.
